A world meeting of food communities
Turin, October 23-27, 2008

Call for Applications

This year, for the first time, the forms will be completed online.  These online applications must be completed no later than April 30th.

We are pleased to announce that application forms are now available for the third edition of Terra Madre: A World Meeting of Food Communities.  In 2004 and 2006, Slow Food gathered thousands of food producers, cooks, and educators in Turin to partake in dialogue and exchange about the production and consumption of food that is good, clean, and fair.  Building on the successes of the past two editions, we are excited this year to expand and diversify our delegation, allowing even more producers, cooks, students and educators to be a part of this unique gathering. More that 1,600 food communities will be present, representing over 150 countries.

As the largest event held by Slow Food, Terra Madre represents Slow Food’s great power to convene diverse groups of people and to unite them under the philosophy of good, clean, and fair food for all. Through past editions of Terra Madre, Slow Food has expanded its network immensely. In 2008 we have the opportunity to expand this network to the next generation of leaders in the food movement, those united in the Youth Food Movement.

At the urging of the youth delegation at the Slow Food International Congress in Puebla this past November, Carlo Petrini pledged to invite young people to Terra Madre 2008.  We are committed to making his vision a reality.  His pledge acknowledged the necessity of including youth in the dialogue between those who seek to raise, catch, create, distribute, and promote good, clean, and fair food and build the future of our food system. The Youth Food Movement will be represented at Terra Madre by approximately 500 young food producers, cooks, and students--from the world over.  We encourage you to recruit and engage the young people in your food community!

Join us!  Encourage your colleagues and friend to join us!  Given the great success of the past editions, space is limited, so don’t delay.
