Reporting in from Madeline Island. The sun was shining, the temperature warm and spirits were high as 35 gathered on the lawn of the one room school house. Senator Kohl’s regional rep was with us. Senator Feingold sent greetings as he was in Milwaukee discussing health care. Superintendent of the Bayfield School District Linda Kunelius and her Director of Nutrition, Patricia Farrell, were also in attendance. Beth Fischlowitz from the Town Board and teacher, Carol Sowl rounded out the list of dignitaries. Petitions were signed, memberships gathered and a spontaneous Community Garden meeting occurred. It was a wonderful event and we now have people watching the Child Nutrition Act.
