What exactly should I say/ask for?
Points #1, #2 and #3 on the Time for Lunch platform.
Why Labor Day?
We chose Labor Day for our National Eat-In because it fits the legislative calendar for the Child Nutrition Act, because it honors labor and the people who grow our food and because it's a day that's already set aside for sitting down and sharing a meal together.
What if the Child Nutrition Act is reauthorized before Labor Day?
There will still be work to do. At that point, the reauthorized law will move to the USDA, where they'll decide the best way to implement it. If that happens, we will make sure Secretary Vislack and his team hear that it's time to provide America's children with real food at school.
Is this campaign about the amount of time kids have to eat lunch?
While we agree that most lunch periods are woefully short, the main focus of this campaign is the quality and source of the food sold at school. However, we do encourage you to talk to your district's school board about all aspects of school lunch, including the length of the lunch periods.
