For our next stop of our CFTP dinners, we will visit the Philippines and feature two chefs deeply dedicated to flipping the narrative on the stereotypically pork filled Filipino dishes and presenting beautiful and delicious plant based food. We’ll discuss the influences of the cuisines from colonizers Spain and America and explore how the foodways are changing as the climate affects the oceans & strengthens the storm and economic & political hardships force migration.
Our chefs for the evening are Cleodia Martinez and Reina Montenegro.
Our moderator for the conversation will be Yana Gilbuena, chef and storyteller at Salo Series.
Our partner nonprofit for the evening’s donation is Sama Sama Cooperative, founded by Philipinx-American parents to create spaces and experiences for Filipinx youth can stay connected to their heritage and culture.
The proposed menu for the evening is still under development. Check back soon!
