After a long hiatus due to this relentless pandemic, it’s time to rebuild and reconnect. We can’t think of a better way to do this than to have one of our cherished gatherings in true Slow Food Style.
We invite you to join us to celebrate a beloved native culinary delicacy, ‘allium tricoccum’, aka ‘wild ramps’.
You’ll get to see an actual ramp patch; learn about the life cycle of ramps and how to harvest them sustainably. Then we’ll gather in the garden for an old fashioned community pot luck supper. Enjoy music curated by Steve, our Slow Food Metro North Treasurer. You can play lawn games, dance, enjoy the fire, or just relax by the water and take in the fresh air and beautiful landscape.
Please bring a dish to share (with the appropriate serving utensil). We will make a few dishes that feature our star ingredient, ramps. We’ll also provide tasty artisanal garden inspired beverages, and all the fixings to make S’mores. We’ll have a wood-fired grill going if you need to cook anything or heat up your dish. While we can’t serve alcohol, you are welcome to bring your own. (rain date is Sunday May 22nd)
Though there are costs involved in creating an event like this, we wanted to make this gathering FREE so it’s accessible to everyone. However, if you can afford to do so, donations to Slow Food Metro are most welcome (and tax deductible).
