World Food Day Student Poster Contest & Gallery Walk

October 26, 2019, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT

Free

Slow Food DC is thrilled to participate in the UN Food and Agriculture Organization’s celebration of World Food Day! To mark the occasion, we’re sending out a call to students for their best artwork for the World Food Day Poster Contest — open to kids aged 5-19.

Students can create a poster that illustrates their idea of what needs to be done to make healthy diets available for everyone and how each of us can improve our own diets. There will be a “gallery walk” of local poster submissions the afternoon of Saturday, October 26, featuring snacks, activities, and information tables led by local and international food organizations.

We will take photos of student posters and vote on our local “people’s choice” poster winner! Need poster ideas? Check out the Eating Healthy Matters activity book, available at: http://www.fao.org/publications/card/en/c/CA4694EN/.

You can also learn more about World Food Day here: http://www.fao.org/world-food-day

Participation in the contest and the October 26 gallery walk are FREE, though we do request pre-registration.

Many thanks to our partners and supporters: Slow Food USADC’s Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE)United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)Busboys and PoetsDC Urban Garden Network, and FreshFarm.
