A morning of dirty hands, good food and new thoughts. We Tend To Grow is a collaboration between Grow Local Colorado, Slow Food Denver and you. Our hope is, we’ll all leave nourished, enriched and a little closer to our food, our communities and each other. Deep in the soil, the root of a plant is where everything starts. Is it inherently passive, or should consumers take a more active role in knowing where their seafood comes from? How do fish harvesters, chefs, distributors, institutions and others in the supply chain engage consumers in the conversation about why they should know their fisherman, or at least their fishmonger/chef/etc., and the backstory of their seafood? Taste entries from local chefs and home cooks at our first-ever Okra Cook-Off. Winner takes home $250 and other surprises. $6 entry gets you a taste, a beer, and a vote. Plus, take home free heirloom seeds and learn more about Slow Food and the importance of preserving biodiversity with food that is good, clean, and fair for all.
