Let’s fix our broken food systems together! 💥 We work to disrupt the status quo so that we can sow the seeds of good, clean and fair foodways across the continent. This looks like educating ourselves and elected officials about local and national food policies that touch all of our plates.

Our Policy Coordinator and Food and Farm Policy Team member @lindsay_troyer reflected on what’s at stake with the #FarmBill and how we can advocate for a just future for food in this important (and complicated!) piece of legislation. Check it out in our linkinbio!

This week, Slow Food USA is describing our role as 🛑disruptors🛑 in food systems. Our fast-paced, monster-sized food system works against local producers and workers and often produces joyless food. The Farm Bill can change all that — but it's set to expire at the end of this month (!). Our friends at @HEALfoodalliance join us in demanding that Congress pass a Farm Bill that:⁠
⭐ protects food chain workers ⁠
⭐ brings justice for BlPOC farmers⁠
⭐ nourishes people ⁠
⭐ invests in communities, not corporations ⁠
⭐ ensures the survival of our planet⁠
⁠

Sharing our stories — and experiencing storytelling from others — is deeply powerful. Since 2019, the Slow Books committee has been the "literary lighthouse for Slow Food USA, reviewing and selecting recommended reads that intersect with our movement." They curate our monthly book recommendations, develop virtual programming, and select and curate a network-wide read-along campaign.⁠
