september slow food leader summit

As we invite new people to join as members during the September membership drive, we are also making space to connect with one another as leaders. These calls are for all network leaders—board members of local chapters, participants of national communities, and folks who are interested in getting more involved.

For Slow Food USA’s September 2023 Leader Summit, we want to bring leaders throughout our network together to workshop how we can continue to nourish our connections and connect our foodways.

Over the course of four Thursdays in September, we’ll be featuring free workshops that will explore how our movement can deepen into our roles in the social change ecosystem.

WE ARE WEAVERS

WE ARE WEAVERS

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 8PM ET / 5PM PT

We connect the many hands that touch our food, and reject the industrialized segmentation of our food web. Here, we’ll share ideas on how to connect with new community members, partner organizations, and more to grow the Slow Food network.

We’ll be featuring the Slow Food Network Leaders:

Angie White of Slow Food North Louisiana

Willow Blish of Slow Food East Bay

Pennie Schwartz of Slow Food East End (Long Island)

WE ARE BUILDERS

WE ARE BUILDERS

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 8PM ET / 5PM PT

From creating and hosting unique events that last, to bustling Snail of Approval programs, we’ll learn what goes on behind the scenes of crafting rich experiences within the community.

We’ll be chatting with the following Slow Food Network Leaders:

Sabrina Li of Slow Food Emory University

The Slow Food Atlanta Team

Debbi Capreau of Slow Food Sonoma County North

Gwen Crist of Slow Food Utah

WE ARE STORYTELLERS

WE ARE STORYTELLERS

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 8PM ET / 5PM PT

In this session, we’ll learn how to tell stories for a purpose – whether it is for drumming up turnout for events, or putting pen-to-paper for grant writing.

We’ll be featuring the Slow Food Network Leaders:

Milagros de Hoz and the Slow Food NYC Team

Lilly Steirer of Slow Food Denver

WE ARE DISRUPTORS

WE ARE DISRUPTORS

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 8PM ET / 5PM PT

We inspire bold action to break down social and political barriers to good food access. We spark dialogues around food as politics, food as climate action, food as pleasure, and food as a catalyst for change. We’ll be discussing these with Dan Mueller, Melanie Kirby, and Lindsay Troyer, hearing about how our network can have discussions that influence policy at every level.
