FED Workshop – How To: Urban Foraging

May 30, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

$45.00

We are partnering with Forager Kate Armstrong of The Urban Forager and Andy Conner of Foraged to bring you this how-to workshop focused on foraging in an urban setting. Guests will join us for a walk through City Park where we will explore local flora and fungi through the lens of what is edible in our backyard.

The evening will be an intimate gathering that offers the opportunity to learn from these local experts about foraging in Colorado. We invite guests to come with specific questions, or a completely blank slate from which to learn. All levels of foragers are welcome at this event.

We will gather at a designated meeting spot prior to our walk through City Park. Exact location for our meet-up will be shared the week of the event.

Andy and Kate will co-lead our group through the park to explore both the plants and mushrooms we find. The evening will conclude at 8 PM back at the starting spot.

Your ticket includes not only this incredible learning opportunity, but also a Foraged tote bag, a handmade salve crafted by Kate the Urban Forager, and a pair of Slow Food Denver gardening gloves.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns!

About Our Instructors:

Kate Armstrong

Since 2009, Kate has been teaching about wild plants for edible and medicinal purposes as well as leading walks in the Denver area as the Urban Forager. She grew up on a small, diverse farm in the 1950’s learning about plants from both her mother and grandfather, who started the botany department at Furman University. Building on this foundational knowledge, she has since acquired 3 degrees pertaining to teaching, received a Master Composter certificate from DUG, helped to implement a sustainability committee initiative in Edgewater, and currently teaches a variety of local courses. Kate currently instructs on topics such as salve making from common plants, canning and preserving foods, composting skills, and foraging in urban environments. Her depth of knowledge on local plants is bountiful and abundant. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from such a well-rounded, interesting urban forager!

Andy Conner

Andy is the co-founder and head of product for Foraged. With the help of Jack Hamrick, he set out in early 2021 to build a marketplace community of like-minded food entrepreneurs who are collectively altering the food industry as we know it to be more traceable and local. Prior to starting Foraged, Andy worked as a full-time web developer and published nature photographer traveling to beautiful and remote locations around the US. When he isn’t working on Foraged, you can find Andy in the woods with his dog Luna looking for delicious wild edibles or photographing beautiful natural landscapes far from the beaten path.
