How do you protect and save distinctive but endangered foods? By eating them!
We hope you can join us for a very special dinner and discussion about Slow Food Ark of Taste foods from the Midwest. The Ark stores information about 200+ edible treasures from the US (and more than 3,500 from 150 countries!), and we’ll explore several from right in our own St. Louis backyard!
We’ll be joined by Sam Wiseman of Sunflower Savannah Farms, and Crystal Stevens of Flourish Farms, as well as a remote visit by Jean Callabrese, director of the Ark of Taste Midwest. And of course we’ll enjoy some delicious dishes made with local AoT produce, like Amish Paste Tomatoes, Cayuga Duck and eggs, Norton Wine (and Norton Wine Pates de Fruits!), Red Turkey Wheat, Manoomin Wild Rice, and more!
Each participant will get a copy of the newly released Ark of Taste book (included in event ticket). Proceeds of this will benefit the Midwest Ark of Taste Committee.
We hope you can join us for this fun and informative evening.
