Slow Fish Rising Tide KNOW FISH Dinner
When was the last time you tasted some of the best shrimp in the world while hearing the story about when, where and how the shrimp were harvested from the shrimper who landed them?
How about hearing first-hand stories of coastal Louisiana fishermen and their resilience in the face of rapidly changing coastlines, increasingly violent storms and weak policies that prioritize cheap imports over local, community-centered seafood? You’ll get your chance on Tuesday, Nov. 14 during the KNOW FISH Dinner® at Porgy’s Seafood Market. You’ll not only feast on delicious, locally caught shrimp and fish deliciously prepared by Chefs Marcus Jacobs, Wataru Saeki, Christina & Dana Honn, you’ll learn why knowing the story of the seafood and the story of the fishermen in and near your community matters.
This is the final event in Slow Food USA’s Slow Fish Rising Tide event series for 2024. Rising Tide events are collaborations between Slow Fish North America, Slow Food USA, and Slow Food communities throughout the US and Canada. Through these partnerships, we coordinate regional events centered on the shared values around food that is good, clean and fair. Our goal is to bring more people into the conversation about why seafood with values matters.
