Compiled by Robin Mosley, Communications Coordinator

Carol is the Board Co-Chair, Communications Chair, Snail of Approval Lead of Slow Food Sonoma County North.

What brought you to the Slow Food network?

As I was on my path to better eating I attended Slow Food Nation in San Francisco in 2008. I attended talks, workshops, dinners and field trips and learned so much about our food system and eating good, clean and fair. That led me to my local chapter in Sonoma County, I started attending their events and I was hooked!

What roles/tasks do you primarily focus on as a chapter leader?
I am the Board Co-Chair, Communications Chair, Snail of Approval Lead.

What is one thing you and your chapter are aiming to achieve in 2024?
Increase the diversity in our chapter.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer to other Slow Food chapter leaders?
Have fun, we do important work, but let it bring you joy.

What’s been your biggest challenge as a Slow Food chapter leader?
We have a great group on our board, so they make it easy. But my biggest challenge is bringing in new board members and trying to make in roads with the busy younger generations.

What food experience brought you joy recently?
Mara Welton, Director of Programs for SFUSA, visited our chapter. We spent the whole day visiting our Snail of Approval food businesses and pretty much ate from morning until night!!
